WCW Nitro - 4500k vs the rest

Post by basilel »

I'm keen to know what others are thinking about the two different captured versions of Nitro '95 and '96. There's the 4500k (Timster) version of the 1995 season and a lesser quality version (WD). I've always held the belief that quality supersedes anything else. However, the Timster version is 25gb and the WD version is around 12gb. That's a fairly substantial difference, especially when future Nitros from '98 and '99 (three hours) are released.

My question is whether the difference is noticeable. I have compared the two in a split screen on my PC but not my HDTV.

Since I don't own an HDTV, I only compared those on my 21'' TFT, so is the following helping you?

I would say, you see the difference between a 4500k (1280x720px) release and the 2300k (960x540px), but as far as I'm concerned the difference isn't that big.
Since it isn't native HD material the releases are very similar.
You get some artifacts in quick camera moves on the 540p release which you don't notice or see in the 4500k release but it isn't that bad.

Overall I prefer the 540p releases for the old stuff, because it's way enough - at least for me. ^^

Thanks for this information. It has helped me make my choice. Artifacts in quick camera movement is enough for me to source the best available version.
